RING BEAMS / GROUND BEAMS
As with all foundations, ground beams are designed and specified by a structural engineer based upon the prevailing ground conditions and the nature of the building being constructed.
Ring Beams / Ground Beams are rigid concrete beams which are formed ‘in-situ’ and are typically strengthened with reinforcing bar which provides a high degree of strength. Ring beams are normally used in areas with poorer ground conditions. These beams then span between specialized piles, which transfer the loads to more favourable ground conditions at a greater depth.
Typical types of piles are-
- Steel cased driven piles
- Concrete driven piles
- CFA augered concrete piles
Although we aren’t structural engineers, we do work closely with a number of them and can assist in the process to ensure that a cost effective design is achieved. At Terra Contracts, we have an in house setting out engineer and a state of the art robotic total station to ensure that our work is set out and installed with a very high degree of accuracy. Terra Contracts will ensure your foundations are fitted accurately and exactly as designed.
